The farther memory recedes, the more it loses its outline.
Distance is an optical apparatus that makes the viewed landscape appear farther away, softened into a blurred image. Just as distant objects lose clarity when we try to focus on them, the past appears as something that withdraws the more we attempt to grasp it.
The blur in this work is not a failure of vision. It makes physical the distance between the desire to recover memory and the impossibility of fully retrieving the past. Looking becomes an encounter with absence, delay and the unstable edges of recollection.
